How Big Is Your Spirit?

Last week I had an intuitive realization that had a massive effect on the scale of my manifesting abilities.  Although it has only been a matter of days since this shift in my thinking, I have already begun to notice some rather significant events as a result of this.

This is totally one of those things that makes total sense to the right people at the right time, but probably means very little to others.  I’ll try to explain what I’ve discovered and maybe it will strike a chord with some of you.

Let’s start with the “mind”.  Have you ever thought about where you mind resides?  Most people associate their thinking mind with their brain.  When we look around with our eyes, it feels like our mind and our consciousness is inside our skulls, inside the brain, looking out into the world.

When we contemplate what we are going to have for lunch the next day, it feels like our brains are doing the thinking.  When we close our eyes and try to visualize the perfect day at the beach, it feels like we’re going inside our brains and visualizing inside there.

If you want to have some fun on the topic of finding the true location of our minds and our consciousness, do a bit of research on the topic and you might be quite surprised to read what scientists are finding out.

However, this is not the topic of this article.  I simply wanted to point out that most of us make the unconscious assumption that our thinking and our minds are inside our brains.  It’s just something most of us take for granted, whether it’s true or not.

Now, if that’s the assumption we make about our minds, then where do we assume our “Spirit” lives if we believe in a spiritual universe?  For example, if I told you to close your eyes and visualize your spirit leaving your body, where was that spirit before it left the body?  Was it in your foot?  Was it in your big toe?  Was it in your beating heart?  Was it in your brain?

When I asked myself this question during some meditation / visualization I was doing, I realized that I have been unconsciously using an image of a floating ball of energy inside my head somewhere to signify the spirit inside me.

I would be willing to bet that most people have never thought about this before.  They haven’t really consciously identified where they assume their spirit is “living”.  I bet a lot of people also imagine their spirit living in their heads if they think about it.  Some may imagine their spirit surrounding their entire body, while others may imagine it floating above their heads like a halo.

Regardless of it’s location, what I found very interesting about my unconscious assumptions when imagining my spirit was it’s size.  Meaning, whether it was inside my head/brain/mind or floating above my head, I was imagining the spirit as a ball of energy fairly small in size.  Have you been making this unconscious assumption as well?

Well, last week I had the sudden realization that imagining my spirit being that small, compared to the rest of my body, compared to my house, my property, the city I live in etc. made it seem very weak due to it’s small size.  The question I asked myself was what would happen if I realized that the size of my spirit is actually infinitely larger than that?  What if my spirit is the size of a football field?  Or what if it’s even bigger than that, like the size of our planet, or even bigger?

If our spirits exist in an invisible realm that we can’t see, who says that they have to be so small?  Just because we are choosing to live inside these relatively tiny bodies here on this planet, do we have to assume that our spirits are so small?

I can hear some of you thinking “Who cares?”  What does it really matter how big our spirits are anyways?  They don’t exist in this physical realm, so size doesn’t really matter, right?

Well, I’ve started toying with this idea when I had the realization that my spirit (and yours!) is actually MUCH bigger than I originally, unconsciously imagined.  So what I did next was I spent some time visualizing a MUCH bigger spirit for myself, and this tiny little human body is just a tiny fragment of who I am.  I made the spirit 99% of who I am, and my body/mind 1% or less.  I visualized this and thought about the consequences if this was true.

Then, I started to think that if this realization was true, then it also means that most of us are living our lives backwards.  We live 99% for the body/mind and most of us live only 1% for the spirit…if that.

Here are just a couple of things that popped into my mind which may be true if this realization was true:

  • Problem solving may be much easier than I think. Since my body/mind is only 1% of who I am, I could effectively hand over a lot of my challenges in life to my spirit which is 99% smarter and more powerful than my mind and let it figure out the solution.  My body/mind can just do the remaining 1%.
  • This could put Law of Attraction on steroids, if I tune my intentions to the new size of my spirit.  Whereas before I may have been imagining my spirit slowly attracting what I want with a little tiny gravity field pulling into my life the things that I am attracting, now that my spirit is so massively huge, it has a gravity field much bigger to attract things much quicker.
  • My ability to affect the world may be much larger than I previously thought. If my spirit is the size of this planet, surely I can affect things on a much larger scale than if my spirit is the size of a grapefruit inside my mind.

Please remember that wherever I say “my spirit” here, I am not saying that my spirit is the only one that is that big.  Everyone’s spirit is that big.  We may have just been underestimating it unconsciously by not realizing just how grand and powerful it is.

What I’ve Discovered

After this realization, I’ve spent some time doing some of my usual visualizations and such, relating to attracting things with Law of Attraction.  Except this time I made a point to visualize the spirit side of me being massively larger than ever before and occupying more than 99% of who I am.  So in effect, my little tiny request/desire for something (regardless whether it’s a blue feather or a new Ferrari) is insignificant in level of difficulty compared to my huge spirit.  It would be the equivelant of one of my skin cells requesting that my body provide it with a few molecules of oxygen.  Pretty insignificant compared to the complexity and magnitude of my body, right?

Has it worked?  I haven’t done a lot of massive testing with this yet, but so far it has been working almost to the point where it’s freaking me out a bit (in a good way of course).  I’m not going to go into details how it’s working though.  I’ll leave that up to you to experiment with.  If you don’t believe that we are spiritual beings or if you don’t believe in Law of Attraction, this is probably going to be quite useless to you, but if you do believe in Law of Attraction and that we are spiritual beings, try playing around with this.

Try visualizing the true nature of your spirit being much, much larger than your mind.  Much larger than your body.  Maybe even larger than this planet.  Imagine if 99% of who you truly are isn’t even in your Body/Mind.  Put that other 99% of your True Self to work for you on a few problems and see what happens.  You may be surprised to see what happens.

I’ve already surprised myself, and I know that I haven’t even scratched the surface of this yet.

We create our reality, spiritual forces =>runes =>words , or re: demonology vs. tulpa. The forces of good and evil unified yin/yang, manifests our being, go cosmic consciousness and be at peace.

  • Hi Paul,

    Interesting post…

A few weeks ago I went on a shamanic self-empowerment workshop and we learned to manifest as shamans do. Shamanic manifesting is not that different from manifesting in the way I learned from the Secret and Abraham-Hicks. The main difference I noticed is that for shamanic manifesting, you have to connect to your spirit and tap into the greatness of Spirit before you visualize, and that allows you to manifest from a place of already having it/being it/doing it because your spirit is already all of those things.

  • @Anna Conlan ~ Healing and Insight: Very cool! And when you tapped into the greatness of spirit, did you feel that this great spirit was the size of a watermelon inside your head or something VERY large like a planet or the galaxy?

I’d be willing to bet that the “feeling” you got was that this spirit was much larger than something that would fit inside a human body, right? That’s what I’ve been experimenting with and getting some great results with… attracting from my super size spirit by visualizing it being big, not small.

    Hi Paul,

I have heard this idea somewhere before. Can’t remember where but I know it is a powerful technique to use. Its cool to hear your experience with it.

    Jeremy

  • Hi Paul – yeah, for the sake of the exercise, we had to visualize our spirit as big when we connected to it – it sounds a lot like what you’ve been doing here!

  • Morten says:

    Hi Paul,

Great post, it is truely a very powerful visualization when used in meditation. It is actually a lot similar to what is being used in tantric yoga I think.

  • @Morten: Yeah a lot of people have been telling me that there are similarities to this. What’s cool is that these are things that are just coming to me via my intuition and not something I read in a book. Only after I am made aware of it via my intuition and personal experimentation do I hear about books and others who have discovered the same thing.

    It’s cool when that happens.

I have never really got into this spiritual thing. I do some self development, but never thought meditation, who knows, maybe it it will improve my spirit, and attraction to things.

    Anyway, Great post Paul !

    Cheers,

Thanks Paul – I’ve been thinking along similar lines recently but never dared to talk about it yet. But I will now, once I’ve had an own experience with it.

Actually, I vizualize the spirit as large as the manifested universe itself, an infinite ball surrounding all of us, and give it a round very large limited shape only because of the limitations of my imagination. The shape has to be spherical if the spirit is insensitive to the 6 directions of space (by super-symmetry). So what then? where does someone else’s spirit fit? in the same place because they are One. The body of each of us, and the mind, are an “accident” (dynamic nonetheless, like a seed for actions and thoughts, infinitely so) in time and space that contains in it the determinations of lower spheres, down to the earth. At least that’s how I vizualize it.

I have encountered several meditation traditions that visualize the spirit as a ball surrounding the body, not sure about how they considered the question of size though.

As for its potency, oh yeah, would we really tap in its power, we could do anything we wanted. Virtaully we can do anything we set our will (spiritual will) to. The limitations are in the “inside” vessels and the way they are entangled for example with the limiting beliefs that Paul tells us so often about.

Paul, many thanks for sharing with us. I am curious to read more about your experiments.

    CK.

  • Fantastic post. Experimenting with my spirit as the size of the room that I walk in to has even turned me into a more social person. I figure if my spirit occupies the entire room then I must have a connection to all the people that are in the room. I have take it a step further to visualizing my spirit as the size of the neighborhood that I am inhabiting. Imagining the possibilities is awesome.
